“Have Courage & Be Kind”

Hi! Have you guys seen Cinderella yet? I saw it a few weekends ago and, my oh my, I didn’t expect to love it so much. It was just so beautiful and magical, so I thought ‘Why not put together a room for Cinderella?’. I took the inspiration mainly from these images… so lovely.

UGH she’s so cute.

Ok, so here’s the simple mood board I put together for her…

cinderella roomHer ‘theme’ is blue throughout the movie, so I just loved that couch as the main blue piece, with the muted wallpaper as a accent. Without giving any spoilers, I’ll just say that I loved that it has branches in it.

The rest of the room is inspired by both the ball and her room in the attic – brass and beiges. I LOVE that rug, it looks plain at first, but the subtle metallic details really make it quite elegant.

My other favorite thing is that credenza. That may be my favorite piece of furniture ever.

  2. Cross Stitch art
  3. Brass Chandelier
  4. Jonathan Adler Bird Bowl
  5. Madeline Weinrib Rug
  6. Faux Fur Throw
  7. Brass Credenza
  8. Walnut Floral Wallpaper
  9. Wood Floors
  10. Anthropologie Sofa

I’ll leave you with a wonderful quote from the movie – “Where there is kindness, there is goodness and where there is goodness, there is magic.”

P.S. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, GO RIGHT NOW.

Itty Bitty Livin’ Space

Hello there!
I’ve been daydreaming about what kind of apartment or condo that I’d like to purchase at the end of this year [God willing], which has got me thinking about what I could do with a small space. Also, tons of articles have been popping up in all my feeds lately about people who have beautiful design in tiny spaces… this may be attributed to the fact that the internet stalks you and shows you what you want to see, but let’s just call it ‘fate’ for now. Anyway, here are some of my favorite things that I’ve seen lately incorporating functionality and style for teeny spaces.

The bed and desk pictured are from Ikea – so quite cheap, but I love them both. Also this post about giving the desk a little customization is really cool.
I’m determined to make that little cart someday and use it exactly as pictured – for my portable turntable and records.
The acrylic table creates the illusion of space because you can see right through it, plus you can store things under it, like a small ottoman or books, etc, to create more room.

Any other cool space-creating trends you’ve noticed?

How about another fantasy room? This one is based on one of the best fictional characters ever to have been created – Ron Swanson of ‘Parks and Recreation’.

Ron is a simple man, he likes dark haired women and breakfast food. He also loves woodworking, hunting, whiskey, and quiet. The room I’ve put together is something of a man-cave for dear Ron. It has a giant Kensington leather couch, and some beautiful wooden chairs from Restoration Hardware… though Ron would prefer to make all of the items in the room himself, and they’d obviously be IN BLOOSH.

Also a bar with built in gun storage is a must, plus a smaller bar cart for maximum whiskey availability. For art, very simple – a flag to hang on the wall, maybe a handmade gift from Leslie, and a poster to represent Ron’s favorite meal. Also, a wall mounted deer – this one is faux, but I’m sure he would have his own kill to proudly display.

Add some lanterns for lighting, a cowhide rug, and a good book about sailboats, and you’re all set.

Oh, and a giant lock for the door to keep everyone out.
